Video of woman assaulting kid while teaching her goes viral on Facebook and WhatsApp
The video has been shared by cricketers Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan's wife, among others, condemning the tormentor.
A video of a child learning numbers while she is constantly shedding tears has gone viral on Facebook and WhatsApp.
The child, appearing to be not more than five or six years old, is seen being slapped while she is trying to learn. A woman's voice can be heard in the background, scolding the child with every attempt the kid tries to learn.
The roughly one minute-long clip reportedly made by the mother/tutor, shows the kid in tears, barely managing to point at numbers while reading them aloud.
According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, it is not clear if it is the parent of the kid who is at the other end.
It is also not clear as to when the video was posted and where it was shot. The video was first shared by Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan's wife.
In the video the kid is seen joining her hands and continuously begging: "Will you teach me lovingly? My head is going to burst out."
People who have posted the video on their social media handles have condemned the child's tormentor.
Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli was among those who shared the video and condemned the act. Kohli on his Instagram profile wrote: "The fact that the pain and anger of the child is ignored and ones (sic) own ego to make the child learn is so massive that compassion has totally gone out of the window. This is shocking and saddening to another dimension. A child can never learn if intimidated. This is hurtful."
"Is that how you are going to bring up your child? Absolutely disgraceful and disturbing behaviour by this parent. You need to give your child love and compassion to get the best out of them! Unacceptable," Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh wrote on his Instagram handle.
