Walking Dead season 7: Andrew Lincoln thinks Rick is a silent hero amid Negan's atrocities
Negan already has Daryl as his prisoner in order to blackmail Rick.
The Walking Dead season 7 has delivered another emotionally-charged episode 4 titled Service and revealed Negan's growing atrocities against Rick Grimes and his fellow Alexandrians. The arrogant Savior ruler arrived at the shattered society just days after killing Glenn and Abraham in order to loot their arm supplies.
The reason is simple, he doesn't want Rick to gather up his morale and that of the team's and fights the Saviors with full throttle. In the fourth episode, he reminds Rick of the rule of the jungle and threatens to kill Daryl if he tries to act smart.
The Saviors loot all of the Alexandrian ammunitions but avoid touching their food supplies. Nobody from the team, including Michonne, is happy with Rick's submissive attitude but the father of two has his own reasons.
He doesn't want to see his children Carl and Judith in danger, though for the first time in the seven seasons, he confessed to knowing that Judith is not his child. He revealed that his best friend Shane is the father of his wife's second child. However, he also admits to loving her as his own and would do anything to keep her safe from Negan's wrath. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, told Entertainment Weekly that his character is the silent hero as he tries to endure the abuses in order to protect his loved ones.
"It's one of those watershed moments that happens, certainly between the two lovers, between Michonne and Rick, that brings them together. It's a very important moment in understanding his psyche and going, "This is what I've been doing for the last two years. I've accepted the situation and I will accept the situation if it's going to save lives and if it's going to protect the people I love. I will take it." It's another perfect kind of quiet heroism. You know, he's a stepdad and it doesn't stop him loving his child, but he kind of has accepted that it's not his," he told the website.
The visibly shaken Alexandra leader went through severe mental torture during the fourth episode as after losing Glenn and Abraham, he was forced to see a bruised Daryl working like a slave for Negan.
It remains to be seen, what will be Rick's next move in order to protect his group from the deadly group. The Walking Dead season 7 airs every Sunday on AMC.
