Cookie and Lucious attend the ASA together in Empire season 2 episode 17 Fox

Empire season 2 returns with its pre-finale episode on 11 May, at 9pm EST on the Fox Network. Episode 17 is titled, Rise By Sin, where the Lyon's will attend the American Sound Awards as a family, but a lot of drama is likely to be seen at the event.

The promo for the episode opens up with Lucious telling Cookie, who is dressed in a golden dress, "I heard somebody needed a date for the ASA's." This is followed by the entire family seen at the music awards as Cookie tells a reporter, "What you will see on that stage tonight is a real family."

The promo also shows Lucious strangling Jamal. He says, "You are nothing to me, but a disappointment." The promo ends with a caution, "and one Lyon will fall", as gunshots are heard at the award ceremony.

The upcoming chapter will also reveal if it was Anika who pushed Rhonda down the stairs. In the previous episode, Rhonda looked at Anika's shoes and had a flashback to being pushed by someone wearing those same exact shoes.

Showrunner Ilene Chaiken told Variety, "She's [Rhonda] having a memory. She lost her memory, but it's coming back. She's having post-traumatic stress flashbacks. That doesn't mean that it was Anika, but if it was Anika that pushed her, then there's trouble coming."
