In the previous episode, Zoom kidnapped Caitlin Snow and also stole Barry's speed. However, another important development was Iris West admitting to Caitlin that she might have feelings for Barry.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Barry and Iris's future. He said: "This whole season has been about Iris, whether she realizes or not, trying to take a step forward. She really did love Eddie [Rick Cosnett]. They probably would've had a life together, and a good one if everything hadn't happened in the finale."
According to the producer, Iris is finally ready to move on. "We couldn't just slam them together. It would've been a disservice to Eddie's character and everything that happened between them. We left it on this simmer all season long, and now she should be ready to move on, but she's starting to feel like the universe is telling her otherwise."
When asked if fans can expect a West-Allen moment in season 2 finale, Kreisberg teased: "You can expect some twists and turns in that. But I think you can expect it to be moving steadily forward."
The episode will also find Barry adjusting to live like a normal person as he questions his place in the Star Labs team. He says in the promo: "First Caitlin taken, now Wells. Everybody is going to realise sooner or later that I don't have my speed. I am just a regular guy."
