Wenger Discusses Arsenal's Title Rivals and Possible January Arrivals
Arsene Wenger believes that Manchester United will challenge for the Premier League title and has hinted that he could yet make more signings in January to further boost Arsenal's chances of being crowned champions.
The Gunners currently sit top of the table having lost just one of their eight league games, while United manager David Moyes has struggled to get the best out of the champions as they lie in eighth place with just three wins from their opening eight fixtures.
Manchester United already trail Arsenal by eight points but Wenger firmly believes that Moyes' side will be in contention to retain their title come the end of the season.
"Are Man United out of the title race? No, but of course 10 points starts to be a little gap," said Wenger, as quoted on teamtalk. "It is too early. They are not out of the title race.
"If you have the choice, you want to be in the race at the top, but you cannot rule Man United out today. They have big players, big experience and they are a big club.
"It (points advantage) is three games basically, that is very quick in our league."
While Manchester United have endured a difficult start to the campaign, Arsenal have flourished since the arrival of Mesut Ozil for a club record fee of £42.5m.
The German has been instrumental in the club's early season success and Wenger has suggested that he may well look to buy again in January if the right player becomes available.
"We have a squad that is, number and quality wise, very, very good. After that in January we are not desperate (to buy) now," added Wenger.
"If there is a good opportunity (to buy), why not? But if you know who is out injured now, they will come back in November, the beginning of December, then you have a really massive squad."
Wenger added: "With the number of competitions involved, everybody thinks they have a chance to play. That is what is the most important.
"As long as you fight for things, everybody keeps the focus."
