West Ham United 2-1 Chelsea, Antonio Conte's 'unlucky' Blues out of EFL Cup: Twitter reaction
Cheikhou Kouyate and Edimilson Fernandes scored for West Ham United against Chelsea.
Chelsea have failed to qualify for the quarter-final of the 2015/16 EFL Cup following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of London rivals, West Ham United. Cheikhou Kouyate's first half goal followed by Edimilson Fernandes' 48th minute goal were sufficient for the Hammers to progress in the competition.
Gary Cahill scored a late goal for the west London outfit, but it was not sufficient for them to avoid defeat at the London Stadium on 26 October. The Blues manager Antonio Conte admitted that his side were unlucky to suffer a defeat at the hands of West Ham.
The defeat comes after their impressive performance in their 4-0 win over Jose Mourinho's Manchester United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. The former Juventus and Italy boss was unhappy following Chelsea's failure to progress further in the EFL Cup.
West Ham and Chelsea fans clashed during the game, where violence erupted and plastic chairs were thrown. Police had to intervene and separate the fans in order to prevent the situation from taking an uglier turn.
