Wimbledon 2014 Day 3 Review: Andy Murray Dominates and Tara Moore Loses
Following his opening day victory over David Goffin on Centre Court, Andy Murray started in similarly imperious fashion as he broke his opponent in the opening game.
Andy Murray cruised into the third round of Wimbledon after a dominant straight sets victory over Blaz Rola of Slovenia. The defending champion dropped just two games as he eased to a 6-1 6-1 6-0 victory over the world No. 92 on Court One in just over one hour and 24 minutes.
Murray, seeded third, will take on either Czech veteran Jan Hernych or Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round.
British No.6 Tara Moore lost 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 9-7 to Russian Vera Zvonareva in the first round.
Day Two
Meanwhile, Heather Watson became on Tuesday the third British to cruise into round two as she eased to a 6-3 6-2 victory over Ajla Tomljanovic of Croatia following Monday's victories by Murray and Naomi Broady -- British No.4 reached the second round by beating Hungary's Timea Babos 2-6 7-6 (9-7) 6-0.
Britain's Samantha Murray was beaten by former champion Maria Sharapova of Russia, losing 6-1 6-0, while British Dan Smethurst lost 7-5 6-3 6-4 to John Isner.
No.2 seed Rafa Nadal and seven-time champion Roger Federer won their first-round matches, after beating Slovakia's Martin Klizan and Paolo Lorenzi respectively. Meanwhile, former champion Serena Williams reached the second round.
