Microsoft releases Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update Microsoft

Microsoft has released the Windows 10 Creators Update for Windows phone handsets. Since it will be a phased rollout, all users might not be able to get the update at the moment.

The announcement about the rollout of the update was shared by Dona Sarkar, software engineer from Windows and Devices Group, through a tweet.

The update is compatible with handsets such as HP Elite x3, Microsoft Lumia 550, Lumia 640/640XL, Lumia 650, Lumia 950/950 XL, Alcatel IDOL 4S, OneTouch Fierce XL, SoftBank 503LV, VAIO Phone Biz, MouseComputer MADOSMA Q601 and Trinity NuAns NEO.

"Devices not on this list will not officially receive the Windows 10 Creators Update nor will they receive any future builds from our Development Branch that we release as part of the Windows Insider Program," the company said previously.

If you have a supported Windows 10 Mobile device, check out the following steps to install the update manually.

  • Head over to the Start menu then swipe to All apps list
  • Select Settings>> Update & security>>Phone update>> Check for updates

Windows 10 Mobile downloads and installs the update automatically when it is available. The availability of the update might vary depending on the manufacturer, model, country, mobile operator, hardware limitations and other factors.

For those waiting for the Mobile Creators Update, that's rolling out in waves across regions now.
