Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 rolls out to AT&T-driven Microsoft Lumia 635 users in US
AT&T has released Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 for the Lumia 635 smartphone users having subscribed to its wireless network services in the US.
The release of the update bearing version number 2173.0.15154.50010 was previously delayed, but is now being seeded to Lumia 635 users in a phased manner, Neowin reports. Hence, it may take sometime before it reaches all AT&T subscribers. Those who wish to install the update can navigate to Settings > Phone Update and check for the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2.
New enhancements:
Sorting of Settings menu: This functionality helps users organise their settings in an alphabetical order. This will allow users to effectively search for all their favourite applications.
The Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 incorporates a Mobile Data Toggle feature in the Action Centre.
It also includes support for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, as well as support for display built for 2K resolution.
Quick Text: Allows users to pick a pre-defined phrase quickly and paste it into any text input field.
The new Windows Phone iteration also adds support for Bluetooth Keyboards.
Apart from the above enhancements, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 comes with the following generic features:
- Video over LTE support
- Wi-Fi calling
- Restore Start tile layout
- More phone languages
- SMS intercept ports
- International assisted dialling for SMS
- Emergency notifications
- DTMF Tones.
