Wolverine 3 filming update: Simon Kinberg confirms R-rating and shares plot details
Fans will soon get to see Hugh Jackman as the mutant Logan again, as Wolverine 3 has officially begun filming. Confirming this news, producer Simon Kinberg shared a few details about the movie's plot at the press day for X-Men: Apocalypse in London.
Kinberg spoke to Collider and confirmed that the movie will be R-rated. Speaking about the plot, he shared: "It's a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you've ever seen in any of these movies."
The producer didn't confirm Patrick Stewart's involvement in the third Wolverine movie but revealed that the events of the movie will be set in the future. The Deadpool producer said: "I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It's violent, it's kind of like a western in its tone. It's just a very cool, different film."
According to rumour mills, the plot of the movie could be inspired by the famous Old Man Logan storyline from X-Men Comics. The untitled Wolverine movie will have Boyd Holbrook as the main villain, who will be the security chief of a big corporation, and will also star Richard E. Grant as a mad scientist. Actors Stephen Merchant and Eriq Lasalle are also part of the cast.
Scripted by David James Kelly and directed by James Mangold, Wolverine 3 is expected to hit theatres on 3 March 2017.
