World's First Dog Swimming Pool Opens in Northern Spain
It had to happen sooner or later, the world's first dog swimming pool with slides and fountains, has opened just in time for summer.
As seen in the video below, dogs are lapping up their new play area, situated in the scenic town of Roca Del Valles, near Barcelona.
The Resort Canino Can Jane, a five-star hotel with a large aqua park, was the brainchild of ultimate dog lover Federico Cano, who wanted to create a venue solely for pooches to cool off.
He said: "I don't see why dogs should not be allowed to enjoy a swim when the weather gets hot just like people can - especially here in Spain where it gets really hot. I designed it so that it was a little bit like a beach with a gradual slope that is exactly what dogs appreciate."
Cano said he initially encountered a few filter system problems because of the clog-up of fur but now all was well and added that he can "guarantee a great experience for dogs and one that is clean and healthy for owners."
The resort has more than 20 years' experience in dog training and also boosts a school. There is a £10 ($16) entry charge for adults and dogs.
