To celebrate thirty years of finger lickin' good chicken in China, technology giant Huawei has teamed up with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) for a limited edition smartphone that's a zinger of a brand tie-in.

The partnership between one of China's biggest electronics firms and the fast food behemoth marks KFC's 30th anniversary in the region - a momentous occasion forever immortalised on each device with KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders' iconic image and an inscription which roughly translates to "Hello 1987" on the phone's rear.

The 'KFC Phone' is a special version of Huawei's Chang Enjoy 7 smartphone limited to just 5,000 retail units, and features more than a few KFC-styled changes. The most obvious aside from Sanders' face is the traditional KFC red finish, although its chicken-based software features are likely to appeal even more to fans of fried poultry.

The device will come pre-loaded with a Chinese KFC app that lets users see offers and order food, as well as a new music app that allows KFC phone owners pick and choose the playlists at their local chicken shacks.

Called K-Music, the app automatically locates the nearest KFC restaurant and offers a select bunch of (hopefully chicken-centric) songs that will be beamed into the establishment's speakers for all to hear.

The low-end Huawei Chang Enjoy 7 normally retails at around ¥899 (£103, $132), but the KFC edition will sell for ¥1,099 (£126, $162). It will be available from Alibaba's TMall in China and will sport a 5in display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot), a fingerprint scanner, a 3020mAh battery and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 425 processor.

Google Translate strangely interpreted a Huawei in a Weibo post that read:"Kentucky China 30 years from 1987 to 2017, 30 years accompanied by the taste of the times, suck refers to the aftertaste!"
