Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi Note rumoured to receive Android Marshmallow OS update in the near future Reuters

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi, which is expected to seed Google's Android Marshmallow OS update to its line-up of smartphones next year, could do so beginning with the Mi 4 and Mi Note. These smartphones are now rumoured to receive Android Marshmallow as an OS update.

According to a GizmoChina report that quotes a Weibo post by a Xiaomi operations manager, both the Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi Note are confirmed to receive Android Marshmallow as an OS update in the very near future. Users of the handsets can also expect the closed beta version of the OS shortly, as hinted at by the Xiaomi operations manager.

  • Android Pay: This mechanism is a contactless mobile payment system that is claimed to enable users to make payments at supported retail stores through a virtual account number that represents users' account information on their credit/debit cards.   • Google Doze: Google Doze automatically theoretically reduces numerous background processes/tasks started by Android, thereby enhancing overall battery life of a smartphone when handsets are left unattended.

  • Google Now on Tap: Google Now functionality is tweaked by Android M, such that users can initiate On Tap: input. With this, additional information about any keyword can be obtained by just long-pressing the home button. More than one reference to the content queried for by users is provided by Google Now by accurately collating related data.
