Xiaomi set for MIUI 7 global rollout
Xiaomi has just announced that it will commence the rollout of its newest MIUI 7 operating system for MIUI owners across the globe from 27 October. Unveiled on 19 August (following the announcement in China), Xiaomi's latest OS is set to succeed the current MIUI version 6. After two months of testing and optimisation, the global stable version is now ready to see a public release.
Starting 27 October, Xiaomi users would progressively receive an over-the-air update on their phones via the Updater app. Alternatively, you can download the MIUI 7 ROM package in case you cannot wait for the availability in your region. Xiaomi promises to make the download links available by the time of the rollout. Along with the global stable build, a stable version for China will also be available.
Although the company is yet to announce the supported devices, the ROM download page on the MIUI forum could be a good indication for which devices are eligible to get the update. The site lists Redmi Note 2, Mi 4c, Mi 4, Mi Note, Mi Pad, Mi Note Pro, Redmi 2, Mi 4i, Note Mi 3, Redmi 1S and 1, Mi 2A, Mi 2/2S, Mi 1 and 1S.
Along with the latest Android Lollipop version, you should be able to experience a host of new features and improvements. These include performance and battery enhancements, Baby album, XXL text, new themes, notification section in messages, Child mode, Data saver and Do not disturb mode.
