Xiaomi's upcoming large-screen device Max rumoured to pack 6.4in screen, Snapdragon 820 chip
Xiaomi is reportedly working on a handset dubbed Xiaomi Max, which is said to be the largest device in company's production lineup. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer recently held a user poll to choose a name for the device from the following, Xiaomi Pro, Xiaomi Big and Xiaomi Max.
About 51.62% voted for Xiaomi Max. The name suggests that the company is working on something that could be larger than the Xiaomi Mi Note phablet, featuring a 5.9in screen launched in 2015.
According to insiders quoted by Gizchina, Xiaomi Max would sport a 6.4in screen with a Snapdragon 820 chip inside driving power for the handset. Expect fingerprint scanner and metal build.
Recently, users on the Chinese micro blogging site Baidu, posted photos of the Xiaomi Max, which appears to be factory image of the front panel. The leaked photos that were first obtained by Gizmochina suggest that the device would sport the bigger 6.4in screen. The top panel shows an opening for the front camera and proximity light sensor, between which lies the speaker grill. Xiaomi might not use bezel-less design for the smartphone, the leak suggests.
At the bottom of the front panel there are three capacitive touch screens, while there is so sign of a fingerprint sensor, which means the fingerprint sensor could be at the back of the device or it could be integrated into the display itself. Further, there is speculation that Xiaomi could unveil the handset in May this year, but there is no official confirmation so far.
