Yoda the llama: 'Goofy' animal's smile takes the internet by storm
Yoda, the "goofy", smiling llama has been stealing hearts everywhere as pictures of him posted by Farm Sanctuary went viral. Farm Sanctuary adopted Yoda in 2013, after finding him on craigslist.
Farm Sanctuary is a group founded "to combat the abuses of factory farming and encourage a new awareness and understanding about farm animals"; it rescues farm animals and protects them on a number of a sanctuaries; it also promotes a vegan lifestyle.
The sanctuary wrote on its website that Yoda joined by "happy fluke" in January 2013 after one of its volunteers found an ad on craigslist titled Llama, Free to a Good Home. According to Farm Sanctuary: "Yoda's guardian was losing her home. She'd found a boarding facility for her two horses, but none that would take a llama; she'd also reached out to friends with land, but they also refused Yoda. She was desperate and running out of options, so she placed an ad on Craigslist, hoping for the best. When the volunteer inquired about Yoda, Yoda's guardian wept with relief."
Since he joined, Yoda is said to have made the staff at the South California sanctuary "equally awed, amazed, enchanted, and puzzled" and now Yoda thinks he's the boss: "'I am your king,' his body language loudly proclaims! While we all secretly know he is right, we have learned that it's best not to allow him to know we know."
He's a curious guy...
