Zayn Malik has denied reports that he has secretly wed fiancée Perrie Edwards.

Rumours that the couple had followed Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's example by marrying in secret, surfaced after Malik revealed an image on his instagram page, which showed him wearing what appeared to be a wedding band on his ring finger.

A spokesperson for the One Direction singer had denied the reports saying: "Perrie and Zayn are not married. The picture shows his engagement ring."

The 21-year-old made his Instagram account public for the first time, and appears without his shirt in the black and white photo which bears the caption "Blah."

The Little Mix singer added fuel to the rumours after posting a shot of herself performing in Hyde Park over the weekend with a silver band on her own ring finger.

The couple confirmed their engagement in August last year and Edwards said she felt ready to tie the knot.

"We're young, but I think when you know, you know. We've been together for a while now, so it is nice."

The denial comes after the Kiss You singer threw a lavish fairground themed birthday party to celebrate Edward's 21st birthday.

Malik reportedly splashed out £50,000 on the party in a Hertfordshire stately home, which featured a huge ferris wheel, slides, flags and a large marquee for a party.

Fans of One Direction went into a frenzy on social media after the singer altered the privacy settings on his Instagram account revealing 42 personal pictures. The hash tag "#THANKSZAYNFORMAKINGYOURIGPUBLIC" was trending worldwide.
