Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards: Couple all smiles during make or break Cannes holiday after cheating claims
It had been thought that their relationship was on the rocks following allegations of infidelity. But it looks like Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards may have already put the cheating scandal behind them.
The former One Direction singer and his fiancé, who recently jetted out of the UK for a make-or-break holiday, showed a united front on social media by sharing a snap of them in a loving embrace. In the snap, captioned "oui", 22-year-old Malik can be seen planting a kiss on the blonde beauty's cheek as she smiles with pleasure.
Another snap, posted by Malik's sister Walihya showed him pointing at the camera, while Edwards posed with her tongue sticking out.
Their PDA moment comes just hours after the young couple were seen boarding a private jet accompanied by a small entourage to a secret location. Directioners and fans of the Little Mix songstress have flooded Twitter with speculation that Malik, 22, and Edwards, 21, are in Cannes, France, to marry secretly.
In March, a source claimed the pop stars, who got engaged in August 2013, had brought forward their wedding plans in a last ditch attempt to save their relationship in the wake of cheating allegations. The What Makes You Beautiful singer was recently pictured holding hands with holidaymaker Lauren Richardson while holidaying in Thailand. He refuted the cheating claims and jetted back to London for crisis talks with his partner.
Days later Swedish model Martina Olsson urged Edwards to break off her engagement to Malik after claiming she had also an affair with the heartthrob in Thailand.
Bradford-born Malik quit the British boyband on 25 March, claiming that he wants to feel like a "normal 22-year-old" and had grown tired of 1D's fame.
In his departing statement, he said: "I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight."
Following his shock exit, heartbroken Directioners accused his partner of persuading him to quit the group, slamming her as "the new Yoko Ono", in reference to John Lennon's wife who was widely blamed for The Beatles' split. But Malik rubbished the suggestions that she was to blame, insisting that "she's a good girl".
However, a source has allegedly told Closer magazine that Malik quit the group to save his relationship with the X Factor winner. "Zayn felt he needed out of the showbiz world to get his head straight," a source reportedly told the magazine.
"He's always struggled with the fame and felt it all became too much. In the end, he felt it was a choice between the band or Perrie - and he chose Perrie."
