Zayn Malik would never join One Direction reunion, says Liam Payne
Former One Direction member Liam Payne recently discussed the possibility of a reunion and admitted he does not think Zayn Malik would ever agree to it.
A One Direction reunion might be on the cards, but unfortunately, Zayn Malik will not be a part of it.
Former One Direction member Liam Payne recently discussed the possibility of a reunion and admitted he does not think Zayn Malik would ever agree to join it. The latter quit One Direction in March 2015, the first member to do so, leading to the band's decision of taking a hiatus a year later. All the band members have their solo careers.
When asked if fans will ever see Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan performing together, Payne said it will not be happening in the near future. The 26-year-old was filming for Saturday's episode of "The Jonathan Ross Show".
"Everybody outwardly in the press has said something but we haven't really spoken as a collective together. All I can say is, through album cycles and single cycles, I see everybody putting songs out at the moment, I don't think for at least the next two years it's going to happen," the singer said.
But the "Strip Me Down" singer was quite sure when he was asked about if Malik would come back, , reports Evening Standard. "No, I don't think that'll ever happen," Payne said.
"When he left, it wasn't on great terms so I don't feel like it's a thing. If he didn't want to be here, he shouldn't be here. Which is fine," the singer added about the "I don't wanna live forever" singer.
Payne clarified that there is no bad blood and he is happy with the way Malik's career has turned out. "Like I say good for him, he's gone off and is doing his own thing and he's doing really well so I don't want to mess with his stuff... We did a whole stadium tour without him so I feel like it's fine," he said.
Payne is not the only band member to believe Malik will not be a part of 1D reunion. Former band member Louis Tomlinson in a recent interview with the Metro said he does not think Zayn handled his departure from the band in a good way.
"I just don't think I am mature enough, even in my own head, to give that a real answer. At the moment, I am still pretty mad about the whole thing. I don't think he handled it very well. But never say never. Who knows? He chatted a lot of s*** in the early days. I thought One Direction was pretty good," the 27-year-old said.
Malik also previously admitted that he is no longer on speaking terms with his former bandmates. In an interview with Vogue in November, the 26-year-old said, "I ain't spoke to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you. That's just the way it is. There's things that happen and things that were said after I left. Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected."
On the professional front, Payne is prepping up for the release of his debut solo album lp1, which will be out in December.
