A dramatic video has been released showing the moment a daring sailor had to leap to safety from a sailing boat with his cat, after being caught in rough seas 400 miles south of Alaska. Footage released by the US Coast Guard shows the Frenchman tuck his pet cat underneath his shirt before jumping across to the C-130 US Coast Guard vessel on 20 October.
He became stuck at high seas, before sending out a rescue signal location beacon 400 miles south of Cold Bay. The sailor has not been named, but the boat has been called La Chimere locally. The video was taken from a C-130 Hercules aeroplane.
