Android 5.0 Lollipop release for Xperia Z3 imminent as update gets certified
Sony Xperia Z3 users are in for some great news, as the flagship smartphone has recently received an Android 5.0 Lollipop certification from WiFi Alliance, which confirms an imminent Lollipop release for the handset.
According to Xperia Blog, the WiFi Alliance certified the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Xperia Z3 smartphone on 16 February, thereby signalling the impending arrival of the new update in the next few weeks.
The new Lollipop update for Xperia Z3 is expected to roll out sometime later in February or early March, as Sony had earlier hinted that they will be rolling out the Android 5.0 update in the first quarter of 2015, reports Android Geeks.
As the Lollipop update will be rolled out in phases, it may take some time before it is made available in your country or region.
Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings a bunch of tweaks and feature enhancements including the new Material Design, Android Runtime, lock screen notifications, better battery statistics, multi-user support for phones, dynamic status bar, revamped notifications bar and quick settings among other such features.
Meanwhile, those who cannot wait for the official OTA release can manually check for the new Lollipop update via Settings > About Phone > Software updates > Check now.
