Android 5.1.1 OS update now live for Google Nexus 6 on AT&T in US
After rolling out to Google/LG Nexus 5 smartphones in the US, the Android 5.1.1 OS update is now available for users of AT&T-driven Nexus 6 as well.
AT&T has also officially announced the latest roll-out of the Android 5.1.1 OS update, which is available via over-the-air (OTA) notification.
The update is applicable to AT&T-driven Nexus 6 handsets bearing model number XT1103. However, the network provider has claimed that the update is being seeded in a phased manner. Hence it make take sometime before it reaches all Nexus 6 users.
Enhancements to look out for after installing Android 5.1.1
The OS update brings along numerous bugs fixes that were inherent in the previous version. The camera time-out issue, which was noticed on Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 handsets, will be rectified after installing the latest update. Apart from this, the Chromecast remote pass-through issue has also been solved.
As of now, the AOSP changelog is available on Android Police, courtesy Al Sutton and JBQ.
How to manually search and install Android 5.1.1
AT&T-driven Nexus 6 users can follow the steps below to manually search for and install the firmware update.
- Select Settings from application tray or pull down menu.
- Select the More box in the top right corner
- Select About Device.
The following information displays:
- Android version: 5.1.1
- Baseband version: MDM9625_104446.01.02.101R
- Kernel version: 3.10.40-geec2459
- Build number: LMY47Z
- Upgrade file size: 81MB.
Select OK and the firmware should install.
