Android 7.0 Nougat for Moto Z and Moto Z Force to start rolling out this week
The two models will also be the first non-Pixel phones to be compatible with Daydream VR.
Motorola has announced that the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update will start rolling out for its Moto Z and Moto Z Force phones by this week. The company had earlier promised that the two phones will get the update before the end of November.
"We'll begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat globally to Moto Z and Moto Z Force this week. You can visit the Moto software upgrades page here for more details, including specific information by country and carrier," says the company in a statement on their website.
Although no changelog has been released by the company mentioning the exact changes the two models are getting, the company did reveal that post the update both phones will be compatible with Google's Daydream. Motorola highlights the fact that Moto Z and Moto Z Force will become the first smartphones from another manufacturer other than Google to be recognised by Google as Daydream-ready devices. Until now, only Google's own Pixel devices were certified as Daydream-ready.
Until now, Motorola has released the Android 7.0 nougat update for the Moto G4 and G4 Plus only, that too in select markets. With this rollout, these two models will be added to the update devices list.
Other Motorola phones that will receive the Nougat as per Motorola's schedule are Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play and Moto Z Play Droid.
