Motorola announces list of Moto phones eligible for Android 7.0 Nougat
Motorola will start the software upgrade in the fourth quarter.
Android Nougat version 7.0 is on its way for Motorola handsets, the company has confirmed.
Google's Nexus series phones are the first ones to get Nougat with several key elements such as the ability to speak the user's language using more than 1,500 emojis including 72 new ones, ability to switch apps with a double-tap, notification controls, improved battery life and data-saving features.
The free software upgrade will be available in the fourth quarter, sometime between October and December, starting with Moto Z and G (4th Gen). Other Motorola devices eligible to receive the new Android version are Moto G Plus (4th Gen), G Play (4th Gen), X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), X Style, X Play, X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Maxx 2, Moto Z Droid, Z Force Droid, Z Play and Z Play Droid.
The company has also listed Nexus 6 as an Android Nougat-supported device. The latest Android version is seeding for the Nexus model as an over-the-air update with build number NBD90Z and bundles Google's October security patch.
Once the update is available for your Moto phone, you will be notified. To grab the latest version manually, go to Menu, then Settings. Tap on System updates and then follow the on- screen instructions to download and install it. After updating, the phone will restart automatically to complete the installation.
