Overview

Andy Murray breathed a sigh of relief on Tuesday after he came through his first round clash against Radek Stepanek in five sets after bad light cancelled the play on Monday when the momentum was with the Briton. The Czech Republic veteran, who came through qualifying, got off the blocks quicker of the two and took a two set lead in a bid to upset the odds. The world No 2, however, was not in a mood to throw in the towel and mounted a stunning comeback to record a 3-6 3-6 6-0 6-3 7-5 win to move into the second round.

Mathias Bourgue, on the other hand, came through his first round clash against another qualifier, Jordi Samper-Montana, in straight sets, but with two of them going into the tiebreaker. The Frenchman's main advantage against Murray will be that the Briton has not got a full day's rest following his win over Stepanek on Tuesday. But the world number 164, who got into the tournament courtesy a wild card, will have his task cut out as he is yet to play in a main draw of an ATP event this season.
