Angelina Jolie is 'extremely sad' but 'will always love him in a way' after Brad Pitt split

Angelina Jolie is 'extremely sad' that her marriage to Brad Pitt has failed but that does not mean the Maleficent star is getting back with her former husband.

According to HollywoodLife, although the 42-year-old actress is saddened by the demise of her marriage, she is not looking to reunite with the Oscar-winning producer.

"Too much water has passed under the bridge for Angelina [Jolie] to even consider getting back with Brad [Pitt]," a source told the celebrity gossip website.

Jolie will "always love Pitt in a way" but she may never reconcile with him because "the trust is gone" and what she has faced in her relationship with the Allied star "can never be fully forgotten".

"That anger has definitely dissipated a lot since the split last year, but it's still there, and Angelina isn't prepared, or able, to let it go just yet," the source said.

The source also said that the plane incident between 53-year-old Pitt and son Maddox, 15, was just the tip of the iceberg as the former couple was having problems leading up to their split in September 2016.

At the time, it was alleged that Pitt got into a heated argument with Maddox on board a private plane. He was subsequently grilled by the LA County Department of Children and Family Services and the FBI and was later cleared of the allegations.

"Even though Brad has addressed his issues and has quit drinking, Angelina has no intentions of reuniting," the source said.

"She's extremely sad that the marriage failed, but at the same times is feeling stronger than ever now that she is on her own. Angelina is now committed to being a single mother, and all of her energy is going into raising her children, and fulfilling all of her humanitarian duties the very best she can. Right now, Angelina is happy being single, and doesn't want the distraction of a man in her life."
