How Arrow almost became 'the hooded vigilante with a boner', reveals Stephen Amell
Arrow season 3 star Stephen Amell took a trip down memory lane after appreciating actress Melissa Benoist's Supergirl costume for her upcoming TV series.
Amell reminisced about his own first-look reveal as Arrow and shared quite an amusing story with fans on his Facebook account.
The actor stated that after "several fittings" and a painstaking process, the Arrow team thought they had settled on the perfect photo, until the CW show's producers showed it to Katie Cassidy – who plays Laurel on the show. (via The Hollywood Reporter)
"The photo is examined, approved...given a little panache from the DC team and set for release. I remember everyone being really happy with it and wanting to show it off to people working on the pilot. Which led to one of our producers showing it to Katie Cassidy...She immediately pointed out a glaring problem," Amell wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
"The angle of the photo and the placement of my bow made it appear as though I was maybe a little TOO excited about wearing the Arrow suit. She was right. It definitely looked like I had an erection."
The photo was changed in time, and it "erupted online (sorry...) with a fantastic approval rating. And that's the story of why first photos in the costume are important/how we ALMOST became the show about the hooded vigilante with a boner," Amell wrote.
Here is the first look of Arrow that was released online (after making the necessary changes) followed by the first Supergirl costume reveal:
