  • Bellerin is reportedly open to the idea of leaving Arsenal for Barcelona in summer.
  • The right-back is also wanted by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is determined to block Hector Bellerin's potential move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman's contract at the Emirates runs down at the end of the season. According to the Spanish publication Sport, the Gunners' boss is expected to commit his future to the north London club by signing a new deal.

Wenger's immediate focus is to help Arsenal win their remaining fixtures, including the one against Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley on 27 May. He has already started planning for the next season as he has no plans of leaving his current employers after the end of this campaign, even if they miss out on the next season's Champions League.

Bellerin has long been linked with a move to Barcelona. The Catalan club's technical secretary Robert Fernandez publicly admitted that his side have watched the right-back in action on several occasions.

Mundo Deportivo reports that apart from the Camp Nou outfit, Pep Guardiola is also interested in signing the Spaniard for Manchester City. However, Sport claims that Wenger is not looking to let his star player leave the club, especially after he committed his future to the club by signing a contract extension earlier this season.

Arsenal are already planning for the next season and Wenger will have to take a call on the long-term future of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the club. The former La Liga duo's contract runs down in 2018 and have not signed a new deal.

It is believed that the Gunners' manager is open to the idea of sanctioning Sanchez's sale, but is keen on retaining Bellerin for the next season. Wenger sees the defender as one of the best players in Europe and remains confident that his price tag will further rise if he continues at Arsenal.

Barcelona are keen on signing Bellerin and have already made their interest known to the defender's camp. The player is also open to the idea of returning to the club he left six years ago. The Spanish club will hold talks with Arsenal and it is likely that Wenger could reject their approach for their star player.

Bellerin has featured in 31 games in the Premier League and has four assists to his name this season.
