The hosts have won the series after registering a win in the third ODI in Sydney. This follows their 5-0 victory in the Test series and the English side will be fighting to avoid another whitewash in the limited-overs series.
Australia come into the game after registering a seven-wicket victory over England in the third ODI. Alastair Cook won the toss and decided to bat first. The visitors were given a good start by their skipper and Ian Bell, before Cook was dismissed for 35 by Nathan Coulter-Nile.
England's top order failed to fire in the crucial fixture, with only Eoin Morgan (54) and Tim Bresnan (41 from 29 balls) doing themselves credit as the visitors limped to a below-par 243 for 9 from their 50 overs.
In reply, Australia had no trouble in chasing the target with David Warner and Shaun Marsh both hitting 71, the latter unbeaten. The home side reached the target in 40 overs and lost three just wickets in the process.
