Barcelona News: Catalans Complete Claudio Bravo Signing
Barcelona have completed the signing of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo after paying Real Sociedad £10m to secure his services, reports in Spain claim.
The Catalans have already confirmed the signing of Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Borussia Monchengladbach last month. However, after Victor Valdes decided to leave the club this summer and with Barcelona releasing his understudy Jose Manuel Pinto they are in need of two new goalkeepers to the squad.
Liverpool star Pepe Reina have been linked with a move to the Nou Camp in recent months but according to several Spanish reports Barcelona have finally opted for Bravo.
Indeed, AS claims that Barcelona have already agreed terms with both Real Sociedad and the keeper with official confirmation expected to be announced in the next few days.
Barcelona tried to secure a cut-price deal by including Jonathan Dos Santos in a part-player exchange offer but with the Mexican midfielder refusing to join Real Sociedad they have finally agreed to pay £10m to complete the deal – with the keeper agreeing a four year-contract.
The Chilean international is currently with the national team at the Word Cup and has played a crucial role in ensuring qualification to the knock-out stage after impressive performances against both Australia and Spain.
Questioned after the victory over Spain about his move to Barcelona, the keeper suggested he will not confirm anything until after Chile's campaign in Brazil.
"Now I'm with my national team. There will be time enough afterwards to talk about these things. Now I'm happy for our victory and qualification and for having been able to take advantage of this historic opportunity," he said.
Should Bravo finally join the Catalans he will become Barcelona's third summer signing – following the arrivals of Ter Stegen and Ivan Rakitic.
Furthermore, new boss Luis Enrique has also brought youngsters Rafinha and Gerard Deulofeu back to the Nou Camp after their successive loan spells at Celta Vigo and Everton.
