Batman v Superman: Director teases connection between Wonder Woman and villain Lex Luthor
Wonder Woman's storyline is expected to be one of the big highlights of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as fans are eager to know how the DC heroine fits into the plot before her solo origin story hits screens in 2017.
Director Zack Snyder shared some interesting details about her inclusion in the film and teased an interesting connection between Wonder Woman and the film's primary villain, Lex Luthor.
"You learn pretty early on that Lex is interested in metahuman existence," Snyder told Empire magazine adding, "and that there might be some relationship between that investigation and the appearance of Diana Prince".
Talking about the idea behind bringing Wonder Woman into the mix in Dawn of Justice, Snyder explained, "It was incredibly organic how Wonder Woman came into the story. The whole concept came of, 'Let's not save anything. Let's try it all.' Then Wonder Woman's entrance made us realise we were much closer to the Justice League than we thought. We realised we were one movie away."
The magazine also reveals that this version of Wonder Woman is over 5000 years old when we first meet her. Blending into the world as Diana Prince, she has put her superhero days behind her, before an unknown threat to mankind forces her to come out of retirement.
Actress Gal Gadot shed some light on why Wonder Woman decides to hang her boots and assume the less-outgoing identity of Diana Prince.
"Because she's seen it all, she has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight," Gadot explained before weighing on what separates Diana Prince from Wonder Woman. "They have the same attitude. Although when she is Diana she tries to blend in, she is not too outgoing. I don't want people to think she is perfect. She can be naughty."
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theatres on 25 March 2016.
