Batman v Superman star Ben Affleck shares an update on his solo Batman movie
While filming for The Justice League is expected to commence in April, Batman star Ben Affleck's focus is currently not on the DC Cinematic Universe.
The actor recently revealed that he is devoting all his time and attention to his upcoming directorial venture - Live By Night. When asked to share an update on his involvement in the new solo Batman movie, Affleck replied: "It's in development, and right now I'm really focused on finishing Live By Night. That's where my focus is, and I tend to be a one movie at a time guy. So, when I'm finished with this movie, I'll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be." (via Moviepilot)
While it has not been officially announced yet, Affleck is expected to direct the solo Batman film - the plot for which is a hugely-speculated affair among fans. Affleck and chief creative officer at DC Comics, Geoff Johns shared some details on that in their recent interview teasing that the deceased Robin's story arc will play a major role in the upcoming DC films.
The Batman v Superman trailer features a Robin uniform, covered with Joker graffiti, which implies the Boy Wonder has been killed in a previous story. He's starting to wonder if he ever really saved anyone – or just made things worse.
DC consultant Geoff Johns told Entertainment Weekly that the Robin suit in the trailer is part of a bigger plan to create "groundwork... for the other movies."
"We'll be exploring that. No one says specifically the name of which Robin that is." According to an earlier article on JoBlo, the film, which is reportedly being co-scripted by Geoff Johns and Affleck, will take a number of cues from the DC comics' A Death In The Family, which featured the death of Jason Todd at the hands of the Joker, and Under The Hood, which told the story of Todd's rebirth as the Red Hood.
