Bobbi Kristina Brown: Family rejoices as Whitney Houston's daughter is taken off life support
Almost three months after she was found faced down and unresponsive in a bathtub, Bobbi Kristina Brown has woken up from her medically induced coma.
The family of the 22-year-old aspiring actress took to social media to express happiness after her father Bobby Brown announced during a concert in Texas that his daughter is "awake".
The 46-year-old r'n'b singer was performing at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas, when he told the crowd: "I can say today. Bobbi is awake. She's watching me."
Although Brown did not elaborate on her condition further, his sister Tina Brown later took to social media to thank fans for their support.
"So many messages, sorry can't answer them all right now but I will get to them later..just allow me this time with my family,,yes, she woke up and is no longer on life support!!!!!:):)God is good!!thanks for your prayers,,still a process, but she is going to be ok:):):):)" she wrote in a Facebook post
Kelilah Fell, a family friend also revealed that they were still praying that "god restore her body and everywhere that she hurts".
"Please don't stop praying for Bobbi Kris even though she is off life support and she has woke up," she wrote in a Facebook post. "We are decreeing life in her body and healing and we want to pray that god restore her body and everywhere that she hurts and we want god to mend her broken heart and make her whole all over again."
Bobbi Kristina had been on life support since she was found face down in a bath at her Georgia home on 31 January 2015. Her boyfriend Nick Gordon is believed to have been first on the scene and administered CPR until the ambulance arrived.
In February, a family friend revealed that she had suffered seizures when doctors attempted to revive her from her comatose state.
The aspiring actress was recently moved from Georgia's Emory University Hospital to a private room DeKalb Medical facility in Atlanta, which is said to be better for long-term care.
The incident happened before the third anniversary of her mother Whitney Houston's death, who passed away on the eve of the 2012 Grammys.
On 11 February 2012, the I Will Always Love you singer was found unresponsive in a bath in a Beverley Hills hotel. A coroner later concluded her death was as a result of accidental drowning, though heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors in her death.
