Borussia Monchengladbach have not received any bids for reported Arsenal target Granit Xhaka
Borussia Monchengladbach have not received an offer for reported Arsenal target Granit Xhaka. The 23-year-old Switzerland international has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, but his current club have confirmed they are yet to receive a concrete proposal for the player.
Reports in the German and English press earlier this week suggested Arsenal were closing in on a £33.9m ($49.2m) plus add-ons deal for the highly-rated midfielder, who is also said to have attracted interest from other Premier League clubs.
Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl insisted they have not received any offers from Arsenal, although he refused to rule out the prospect of Xhaka joining the North London club. "There is no official offer," he said, according to Kicker. "But Granit Xhaka is an issue, sure. It's clear that he's generated interest at other clubs. We have to wait and see what happens."
However, with Euro 2016 on the horizon, Xhaka does not want to have uncertainty surrounding his future for too much longer. "It would be good if I knew where my future lies in the new season before the Euros," he told reporters amid the Arsenal rumours.
"It's not all that helpful if you have to think about stuff like that during the tournament. Thus, I would be pleased if it were to be decided before that. But it wouldn't be a problem if it's after that."
