A beauty pageant in Brazil descended into chaos when during the coronation ceremony the contest runner-up snatched the winner's crown and threw it to the ground.

In the amateur video posted on YouTube, Miss Amazon 2015 winner Carolina Toleda is being crowned on stage, when furious runner-up Sheislane Hayalla grabs at her tiara and sash, threw both to the ground, and stormed off stage.

The shocking incident took place at a convention centre in Manaus on Friday, 30 January.

23-year-old Ms Hayalla had previously made accusations that the contest was rigged, because 20-year-old Ms Toledo is goddaughter of the pageant organiser. Ms Toledo will now go on to take part in the nationwide Miss Brazil beauty pageant.
