Single British Women Mingle With Divorced Men
Single British women prefer divorced men to young men for a date, according to a poll conducted by thepicnicproject.com
The website, which provides dating service to its members, has revealed that there are 5.5 million women in Great Britain who are currently single and an estimated 655,000 single women have said that they would rather date a mature divorced man than someone younger than them, which means more than half-a-million women are interested in divorced men.
It is not just older single women but more than 349,000 are aged between 25-34 and a further 310,000 are aged between 18-24, according to a press release.
According to the research, an estimated 48,000 single women in the UK admit they are actively looking for a divorced man to date, while 892,000 have said that they have recently broken up with their partner or breaking up with their partner.
These women, called Pumas, as they are interested in Previously Married and Attractive Men(PUMA) are creating a new trend in women seeking experience over youth, unlike "cougars" who are known for pursuing younger men.
Interestingly, 12 per cent of women who have been surveyed cited better relationship experience as the reason for their attraction towards divorced men, with 8 per cent believing that they'll be sensitive to their partner's needs.
In addition, 7 per cent are interested in divorced men for the fact that they have demonstrated serious commitment in the past.
The survey also reveals that more than 36 per cent of women do not care if a man is divorced as long as he is interesting and 18 per cent are not interested in his relationship history as long as he is attractive.
As many as 24 per cent of women have admitted they are not put off by children from another relationship.
Kath Slogget, Founder of The Picnic Project commentented: "Being 'divorced' no longer carries the stigma of previous years. In fact, we've noticed more and more female members telling us they want a man with experience - be it a divorced man or someone older - and it's our job to find them."
"We personally meet each new member to our matchmaking service and discuss with them their relationship goals. We also offer dating and relationship coaching, and a personal Date Manager, which is ideal for anyone who is slightly nervous about reentering the world of dating," she added.
The dating service questioned 148 women and 978 men in the poll.
