Cannes 2015: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wins hearts on the French Riviera
It was all about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the 68th Cannes Film Festival.
The blue-eyed actress made a show stopping entrance on the French Riviera on Sunday (17 May).
It's the fourteenth year that the Bollywood star has attended the festival as a spokesperson for L'Oreal.
Taking to the red carpet for the screening of Carol, the actress looked stunning in a turquoise / sea green Elie Saab gown matched with DeGrisgono jewellery.
The sequinned dress featured cutaways in the skirt with a flattering sheer neckline. She wore her hair swept to the side in loose waves for an elegant style.
The 41-year-old took time to wave to fans, and blew kisses as she posed for photographers. In playful mood, the actress winked for the camera and photobombed other guests on the red carpet.
Just moments after she made her entrance, the hashtag #AishwaryaAtCannes was trending worldwide.
Rai Bachchan earlier announced that she will be interacting on social media as she takes over the L'Oreal Twitter handle for a day, giving a rare insight into her Cannes experience.
She also took a moment to take a selfie with fellow L'Oreal ambassador Eva Longoria. The former Desperate Housewives star wore a glamorous midnight blue Versace gown with elaborate pleats on the bodice.
The old friends tuned partners in crime as they flouted the selfie ban to take their own snapshots on the red carpet.
Yesterday, Aishwarya took part in a discussion on gender equality along with UN ambassadors Salma Hayek and Posey Parker.
A champion for the rights of the girl child and an ambassador for The Smile Train, a former Miss World, Rai Bachchan is one of India's most prolific actresses winning recognition on the international arena and is a popular presence in Cannes at the annual festival.
Feature Film jury members Canadian director Xavier Dolan (R) and British actress Sienna Miller posed for the shutterbugs as they arrived for the screening of the film 'Carol'.
Swathed all in black, Miller opted for a gothic style for the red carpet while Cate Blanchett chose a flattering dress with subtle grey and mauve hues.
Earlier Salma Hayek also joined the A listers for the screening of 'Rocco and His Brothers Restoration' Premiere accompanied by Francois Henri Pinault.
The 68th Cannes Film Festival officially opened on Wednesday (13 May) and runs until 24 May when the coveted Palme d'Or prize will be awarded to one of 19 films competing for top honours this year.
