Cannes Film Festival 2016: Bella Hadid strikes again in navel baring jacket at amfAR Gala
Bella Hadid certainly has a way of making sure she gets noticed. After causing a sensation on the red carpet at the premiere of The Unknown Girl in a nearly naked dress that ensured all eyes were on her, Bella Hadid took her shirt off for amfAR's 23rd Cinema Against AIDS Gala.
The high profile event, based at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, near Cannes, is regarded as a highlight of the Cannes film festival calendar.
And while Bella initially opted for a demure look with a modest, slinky, navy blue dress for the red carpet, it contrasted with her on stage appearance later in the evening. The star-studded event saw models and movies stars put on a showstopping showcase of sartorial style for the worthy cause, in a fashion show featuring some of the world's top supermodels.
The 19-year-old took to the stage in a jacket which was left open exposing her bare torso down to the navel and matched it with a coordinated skirt. Baring her cleavage for the bold style statement, the model of the moment basked in the spotlight as she joked with fellow models Izabel Goulart and Barbara Palvin.
Her earlier red carpet outing, in which she caused a sensation as she showed off her svelte figure in a racy red gown, seemed to have inspired others to bare all for the much sought-after photo opportunity.
This time it was model, Lara Stone, who made heads turn as she made an entrance in an entirely sheer gown. Forgoing underwear, the elaborate lace design embroidered on the gothic black sheerdress spared her blushes - but only just.
The 32-year-old Dutch model was almost fully exposed in the gown, but managed to wear it with confidence nevertheless.
She wasn't the only one who dared to put their perfect figures on display. Wearing a Zuhair Murad Haute Couture gown, 25-year-old model Chanel Iman made quite the memorable entrance. The silver mesh design barely spared her blushes, as she went braless under the see-through gown, with only silver embellishments to protect her modesty.
And while she had silver hotpants underneath, the sheer fishtail dress left her posterior exposed as she posed for the cameras.
Lara and Chanel might want to take a leaf out of Katy Perry's style book. The Roar singer rocked up on the red carpet in a stunning scarlet gown that flaunted her curves without flashing the flesh. Channelling her inner senorita, the 31-year-old looked striking in the flamenco-style gown which was adorned with delicate red petals on a cascading train.
Uma Thurman also brought a splash of colour to the proceedings in a floor length, neon pink gown that oozed style.
Milla Jovovich, 40, looked effortlessly elegant in a sequined Elie Saab gown, complete with daring sheer panels for a bold but sophisticated look.
Supermodel Lily Donaldson sparkled in a shimmery red dress with silver embellishments, and a stunning backless design. Dame Helen Mirren, as ever, put on a display of grown up style in a glamourous sheer gown, complete with a full skirt and gold cage overlay. The flattering cut made the most of her enviable figure as the septugenarian gave the models a run for their money in the style stakes.
While everyone else dressed to impress, actress Kirsten Dunst dressed down, wearing a decidedly understated skirt suit for the glamourous event. The Hollywood star was evidently taking her role as jury member for the festival very seriously, curiously opting for a look that might be best described as 'secretary chic.'
While fashion was at the forefront, the annual amfAR gala has a very serious purpose. Co-chaired by Adriana Lima, Adrien Brodie, Dame Helen Mirren, and Una Thurman, they each took to the stage to speak about the important work the charity is involved in, to raise money for AIDS research.
The A list stars celebrities placed their bids for the auction which last year raised $30m.
