Cold Feet spoilers: Main character faces depression and marriage breakdown
Second episode of the comeback sixth series is a bit gloomy.
It's only episode two of the first series in 13 years, and Adam seems to be getting Cold Feet already. The charming Irishman – played by James Nesbitt – reveals that he has changed his mind about starting a new life in Singapore in tonight's (12 September) episode.
Adam feels that his 15-year-old son Matthew (Ceallach Spellman) needs him in Manchester since he is being bullied at boarding school and enduring a rough time. That may lead to a tiff with his hot young fiancée, Angela, who is 18 years his junior. Will Adam head to Singapore and start a new life with his future wife, or will he put his son first and stay in the UK? Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, David (Robert Bathurst) – who quite fancies Angela – is trying to impress Adam's father-in-law. We also see Jenny and Pete's marriage struggle more than ever as their financial worries take a toll on their relationship and sex life. Pete (John Thomson) is currently juggling two jobs as a taxi driver and carer, and was known for his upbeat personality – until now.
There are poignant moments in tonight's episode involving the Manchester pals as writer Mike Bullen touches on depression involving Pete's downward spiral of unhappiness, making it clear that he's a man in need of help. To make matters worse, his wife Jenny (Fay Ripley) catches the eye of a client at work, and since her husband isn't delivering in the bedroom, will she stray?
It's not all doom and gloom, however, as Karen (Hermione Norris) attracts the attention of a suave, rich businessman (Art Malik). Ooh, er!
Cold Feet continues on ITV tonight at 9pm.
