Dakota Johnson and Matthew Hitt split: Did couple split over Fifty Shades of Grey film?

American model/actress Dakota Johnson and her boyfriend Matthew Hitt have reportedly split over her film Fifty Shades of Grey.

According to Hollywood Life, Hitt was upset with the 24-year-old actress' new found fame, after playing Anastasia Steele in the film version of EL James's best-selling erotic novel of the same name.

In the movie, the daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, was seen opposite Irish actor/model Jamie Dornan.

"[Dakota] has been way too busy to focus any attention to her relationship and Matthew totally shut her out of his life because of that," a source said.

"He hated that she took the film," the insider added. "He hated all the talk and rumors that she was in a relationship with Jamie [Dornan] but that was obviously all in his head."

The Five-Year Engagement actress and the 26-year-old, who is the lead singer and guitarist for the American-Welsh indie rock band Drowners, had been dating for about six months and were last photographed together in New York in December.

"[Dakota] would have mourned the break up more but keeping busy got her through it," the source went on. "She misses the good times but it really doesn't look like they will get back together."

"Too much has changed in their lives and she now has a completely different life to worry about," the insider said.

Dakota was previously linked to actor Jordan Masterson, while Hitt was previously in a relationship with Atlanta de Cadenet.
