Dame Judi Dench tattoo: Bond star plans first inking at 80
Dame Judi Dench has revealed she wants to treat herself to a tattoo to mark her 80th birthday.
The Bond star, who reached the milestone last December, says she is keen to fulfil the lifelong desire by getting an Indian symbol inked on her skin.
While she admits it is a huge plunge, she thinks it will be a great way to celebrate becoming a member of the octogenarian club.
"I am tempted to have a tattoo to mark my birthday. [My daughter] is very keen on me having one. There's an Indian symbol I like, which supposedly represents life and love and everything.
"One of the cameramen who worked on The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel told me what it meant, but I am a bit nervous in case I am being set up. It might be unbelievably rude."
In 2014, the screen legend made headlines when she flashed her bottom at a Bafta bash. At the time, her derriere was adorned with a fake tattoo of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein's name.
If she does go through with the real tattoo, she will be following in the footsteps of fellow Brit David Dimbleby, who got his body art in 2013 at the age of 75.
The Question Time host got a scorpion - which represents his star sign, Scorpio - inked on his right shoulder while making maritime series Britain And The Sea.
"You are only old once. I have always wanted a tattoo," the veteran broadcaster told Radio Times at the time.
"I thought I might as well have it done now. It's a dream come true for me."
