Denzel Washington loves playing characters who are more than they appear and it seems like he continues that trend with his newest film, Flight.

The trailer shows Washington as an airline pilot whose flight suffers catastrophic malfunctions, causing him to make a spectacular crash landing.

Hailed as a hero, things become more difficult for him when investigations throw up more questions than answers. His own culpability is eventually brought into question.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, who made his name with Back to the Future and Romancing the Stone, Flight also stars Don Cheadle and John Goodman. It will be released in January 2013.
