Doctor Strange: Will trailer featuring Benedict Cumberbatch debut at San Diego Comic Con?

Director Scott Derrickson has shared on Twitter a throwback set picture of himself with actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Chewitel Ejiorur while filming for Doctor Strange. Cumberbatch plays Stephan Strange and Ejiorur plays Baron Mordo in the Marvel movie.

Derrickson tweeted, "On set in early March" along with the image.

The director also confirmed he will attend the San Diego Comic-Con in July, 2016 through a tweet. Derrickson shared a Doctor Strange At SDCC image and wrote, "Will I be at Comic Con this year? Here's a hint..."

Marvel Studios making a return to SDCC this year, after being absent last year, could itself be a hint that there will be a new trailer footage from Doctor Strange at the event. The first teaser was unveiled back in April, which introduced fans to the cryptic world of Stephen Strange.

Besides, Marvel has been known to debut movie trailers at Comic Cons, like the Captain America trailer that was unveiled at AsiaPop Comicon and Avengers Age Of Ultron unveiled at SDCC in 2014. 20th Century Fox has already announced it will skip the SDCC event this year, citing piracy concerns of the exclusive content as a reason. This makes a perfect opportunity for Marvel to make a big comeback by unveiling its Doctor Strange trailer at San Diego Comic-Con.

Previously, actor Scott Adkins, in an interview with The Huffington Post, spoke about Doctor Strange and called it a horror movie. He said, "This is going to show that other dimension side. I'm sure [director] Scott Derrickson's going to bring some of his horror element into it as well...What's great about Marvel is they don't just make superhero movies."

"They make a different genre out of a different superhero film. Whether it's a thriller, a straight-up action movie or political thriller, they're likely to choose a different genre for different heroes, and we're gonna see some psychedelic stuff in this one. Very exciting," he teased.

The movie stars Cumberbatch as Stephan Strange, who is a neurosurgeon and goes on to become Sorcerer Supreme. After his career is destroyed in an accident, the brilliant but arrogant and conceited surgeon gets a new lease of life when a sorceress takes him under her wings and trains him to defend the world against evil

The movie is set for release on 4 November 2016.
