Overview
Italy are trailing Great Britain (GB) 1-2 after three rubbers ahead of the crucial fourth rubber between Fognini and Murray.
Fognini, the 13th ranked player in the world, had given the hosts a 1-0 lead after defeating James Ward, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, on Friday. However, Murray restored parity for the Brits the following day beating Andreas Seppi, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3, after the second rubber was halted midway on the day one.
The world number eight then teamed up with Colin Fleming for the doubles rubber and outplayed Fognini and his compatriot, Simone Bolelli, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, to put GB in a commanding position prior to Sunday's matches.
26-year-old Murray has a chance to take GB into the semi-finals for the first time since 1981 if he triumphs over Fognini.
However, should he fall prey to his Italian counterpart, the tie will go to the deciding rubber between Seppi and Ward.
GB captain Leon Smith will be hoping that Murray secures their progress in the fourth rubber and not bank on Ward to complete the task for their team.

Fognini and Murray are tied at 1-1 in overall meetings and have never met at any Grand Slam event.
