The Game Awards 2015: How to watch, nominees, announcements and predictions
Geoff Keighley's second annual Game Awards take place this evening at 2am GMT (the morning of Friday 4 December), bringing with them ten world premiere announcements or trailer debuts, and ten awards to be decided either by a panel of judges or via a public vote.
The show takes place later this evening at 2am GMT, 3am CET, 9pm EST, 6pm PST, and is being held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It will be streamed pretty much everywhere, so you'll be able to watch it via Twitch (below), YouTube, PSN, Xbox Live, on Wii U or courtesy of Major League Gaming, among others.
The Announcements
Ten world premieres have been announced and we know what three of them will be. The first gameplay from Far Cry Primal will be revealed, we'll get a new look at Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break, and NetherRealm Studios will announce a new character for Mortal Kombat X.
Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg revealed that more Xbox One games will be included among the announcements. With the event's close proximity to PlayStation Experience, which takes place this weekend in San Francisco, Sony may use this platform to make an announcement, or they may wait for their own show.
Last year Nintendo surprised everyone with the first look at gameplay from the new Legend of Zelda game for Wii U. While another glimpse of that game seems unlikely, a precedent has been set for the gaming firm to once again play a part.
The Guests
British pop act CHVRCHES and Deadmau5 will be performing live, while Mark Hamill, NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, and actor Kiefer Sutherland – best known for portraying Big Boss in MGS5 this year – will all be appearing.
The Main Awards
If last year's show is anything to go by the awards won't be getting as much focus as the announcements, which works for us because awards are stupid. Nevertheless, below are all the nominees with our predictions for the winners (i.e. who we think will win, not who we necessarily want to win) in bold.
