Android-based smartwatch OS to feature Google Now
Following Google's smartwatch news, rumours now abound that the web search giant will launch its own smartwatch operating system.
According to the latest revelation, Google smartwatch is real and officially expected to begin shipping sometime around mid to late March.
But a few members from Google smartwatch team believe that the shipping date will either be delayed to June or, the watch might come with smaller features than originally intended. Google has reportedly decided a watch with plastic band instead for the initial release.
Meanhwile, renowned Twitter leakstar, evleaks confirmed that LG will manufacturer Google's smartwatch, which will be launched at company's I/O conference.
TechnoBuffalo now reports that Google is planning to announce its own smartwatch operating system for all OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and for developers to build smartwatch apps in coming months.
Google is expected to announce the smartwatch operating system sometime between March and May. However, the launch will be ahead of Google's 7<sup>th annual I/O conference scheduled to be held on June 25 and 26 at Moscone West in San Francisco.
The smartwatch OS is said to be based on Android. It is expected to feature Google Now voice assistant, although the smartwatch OS might be a simpler version of mobile operating system.
Besides, Always-on feature is likely to be included on all Google Now watches. A certain unnamed industry source has confirmed that LG is already working to add this feature in the smartwatch, which will be officially launched at Google's I/O conference.
Google, in a related news, has been rumoured to launch the next iteration of Android software version 4.5 along with new 8in Nexus tablet sometime in July.
