Guinness World Record is set in Kansas for 'largest gathering of people wearing holiday sweaters'
People in Kansas claimed the Guinness World Record by wearing Christmas theme sweaters in mass on Sunday 20 December during a basketball game between Kansas University Jayhawks and the University of Montana Grizzlies.
3,473 people wearing their holiday sweaters turned up to the Allen Field House in Lawrence, Kansas beating the previous record of 1,175 people in sweaters.
"I can honestly say the field house has not looked as festive, it looked fantastic. It looks really, really good, really happy and upbeat. The town is sold out of sweaters I believe. Everyone is getting into the spirit of it," said Philip Robertson, Adjudicator of the Guinness World Records.
To register for the "largest gathering of people wearing holiday sweaters" world record the participants had to be dressed in long-sleeved sweaters with some holiday decorations, such as snowmen, christmas trees, bells or reindeer.
