Happy 50th birthday JK Rowling: Ten times Harry Potter author nailed equality on Twitter

JK Rowling, author of the biggest-selling book series in history, never tires of being a winner on the internet for calling out trolls and posting her insights on feminism and LGBT rights.
From defending tennis champion Serena Williams to taking down Westboro Baptist Church, we have a look at some of Rowling's best moments in celebration of her 50th birthday.
1. When she approved of Ireland's historic legalisation of same-sex marriage:
.@justaoifethings ???? Then they could get married IN IRELAND! ???? pic.twitter.com/yXedPavZfp

2. When a fan tweeted at the author, "Thank you so much for writing Harry Potter. I wonder why you said that Dumbledore is a gay because I can't see him in that way," and she replied with this:
.@anakocovic21 Maybe because gay people just look like... people?

3. When Rowling confirmed Hogwarts was LGBT friendly:

4. When she challenged Westboro Baptist Church:
.@WBCsigns Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls.
— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 26, 2015
5. And again:
I don't care about WBC. I think it's important that scared gay kids who aren't out yet see hate speech challenged. https://t.co/XumjDmEjuw

6. When a troll said Serena Williams had won Wimbledon for the sixth time because she was "built like a man" and Rowling responded:
.@diegtristan8 "she is built like a man". Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You're an idiot. pic.twitter.com/BCvT10MYkI
— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) July 11, 2015
7. When Rowling tweeted her thoughts on feminism:
@watsonsperfume "what do you think about feminism?" I think it's important and necessary and, as @EmWatson rightly says, not only for girls!
— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) April 17, 2015
8. When Rupert Murdoch posted this about the Charlie Hebdo attacks...
Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible.
— Rupert Murdoch (@rupertmurdoch) January 10, 2015
...and Rowling responded with this:
I was born Christian. If that makes Rupert Murdoch my responsibility, I'll auto-excommunicate. http://t.co/Atw1wNk8UX

9. When she responded to a misogynist with this:
.@sjosiah0 The Internet doesn’t just offer opportunities for misogynistic abuse, you know. Penis enlargers can also be bought discreetly.
— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 8, 2015
10. When Rowling was attacked for earning millions and replied:
@neil1pat @Channel4 Hmm. To date I’ve donated an eight figure sum to combat social deprivation & MS in Scotland… #bettertogether
