Happy New Year: Why the Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone Starrer Heist Movie Will Be a Blockbuster
Shahrukh Khan's Happy New Year release date is closer than ever and fans of the Indian superstar are more than eager to see their favourite star on the big screen again after last year's blockbuster Chennai Express.
The highly anticipated heist movie starring SRK is all set to be released on 6,000 screens globally on 24 October.
Movie critics are expecting the movie to break all box office records as the multi-starrer will have the killer combination of Khan and Deepika.
The pair has already given box office blockbusters in previous years including Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express. Farah Khan, the director of HNY, has directed the former movie while she was a choreographer in the latter.
The movie is based on Shahrukh's Charlie and his group of six losers who pretend to participate in a world dance championship to orchestrate the greatest diamond heist ever.
The movie has every ingredient of a perfect Bollywood masala and appears to have the potential to attract both single screen as well as multiplex audiences.
The movie is expected to break all records both in India and elsewhere even as industry pundits are predicting a whopping 40+ crore rupee ($6.5m) earnings on its premiere day.
Experts are also predicting that the movie will become the fastest movie to cross the 1 billion and 2 billion mark leaving behind Salman Khan's Kick.
"Happy New Year has huge expectations attached to its release and rightly so. The film has King Khan doing what he does best – giving his audience a larger-than-life canvas," Rajesh Thadani from Multimedia Combines told Box Office India.
"Collections on day one will definitely cross Rs 40 crore, breaking records. The weekend and the first week too will be spectacular as far as returns are concerned. The film has a perfect blend of masala which caters to the masses and classes alike," he added.
Happy New Year also features Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff in key roles.
