Heidi Klum and Seal File Divorce Papers in LA Court [PHOTOS]

Supermodel Heidi Klum and singer Seal have filed for divorce. The couple announced their separation three months ago. They met in 2004 and married a year later. They have three children - Henry, 6; Johan, 5; and Lou, 2.

According to People magazine, the divorce papers were filed in a Los Angeles court and the reason for their separation was "irreconcilable differences".

"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart," the couple said in an earlier statement.

The initial separation came as a shock for a lot of people, particularly since the couple seemed in a very happy relationship. In fact, the two even released a steamy music video in September 2010, for Seal's "Secrets", which featured them naked and in bed.

The "Project Runaway" television star, in an interview with Elle for their March issue, said she did not want to talk about her marriage.

"He's going to be 50 next year. He's a grown man. I can't tell him what to do and what not to do. It's hard. People don't need to know who did what. But I'm a lioness. I have four cubs. I'm a mom. I want to take care of my kids and protect them. I don't want to talk about them, or him, or me," she had said.

Meanwhile, The Herald Sun reports the couple has agreed to remain "civil" for the sake of their children, who will be staying with Klum. Seal will retain legal visitation rights.

The FirstPost reports Seal was open for a re-union, which didn't work out.

Finally, According to The Times of India, 38 year old Klum is looking to restore her maiden name. She changed her last name, legally, to Samuel after her marriage although she continued to use Klum for her career.
